Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-07-13

By downloading, installing, or using the Cadenza Mac application or visiting the cadenzapp.com website, you agree to these terms.

1. Beta software

Cadenza, including the Mac app and optional hosted Web service, is currently in private beta. The software and service are provided as-is, with no warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of transcriptions or summaries, availability, or freedom from defects.

You acknowledge that:

  • AI-generated transcripts and summaries can contain errors.
  • The app may change in incompatible ways between versions.
  • Beta features may be removed without notice.
  • The hosted Web service may be interrupted, reset, or unavailable while the beta is being developed.

2. Recording legality

You are solely responsible for the legality of recording any conversation in your jurisdiction. Recording laws vary widely:

  • Some jurisdictions require all parties to consent.
  • Some require only one party to consent.
  • Some have additional rules for workplace, educational, or healthcare contexts.
  • Cross-border calls may be subject to multiple jurisdictions simultaneously.

Cadenza provides recording functionality; it does not provide legal advice. Before using Cadenza in any meeting, ensure you have the consent and authority required by the applicable law. The author of Cadenza accepts no responsibility for unlawful recordings made with the app.

3. Acceptable use

You may not use Cadenza:

  • To record conversations without the legally required consent.
  • To facilitate harassment, stalking, or other unlawful activity.
  • To extract data from third-party services in a manner that violates that service’s own terms.
  • To reverse-engineer the application binary or attempt to bypass any protective mechanism in the distributed software.

4. Hosted Web service

Optional Web Sync requires Google sign-in and is available only to approved private-beta users. If you enable it, selected recording data is sent to Cadenza-operated infrastructure under the retention and security disclosures in the Privacy Policy.

Uploaded audio is scheduled for deletion 14 days after commit. Recording metadata, transcripts, and summaries remain until deletion is requested or a future retention setting changes that policy. You must retain your local originals and any other backup you require; the beta Web service is not a permanent archive or backup service.

You must keep access to your account secure and notify hello@cadenzapp.com if you suspect unauthorised use. The browser entry point is live at cadenzapp.com/app, but account access remains limited to approved private-beta users and may be suspended or removed while the beta is operated.

5. Third-party services

Cadenza integrates with several third-party services (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Notion, Zoom, MiniMax). Your use of those services is governed by each provider’s own terms and is between you and them. Cadenza does not act as an intermediary or guarantor.

6. License

The Cadenza application is distributed under the license terms specified in the LICENSE file accompanying the binary. Until that file ships, the binary may be used personally and for non-commercial evaluation.

The cadenzapp.com website’s source code is private. The compiled, deployed website is freely accessible at no cost.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the author of Cadenza shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses arising out of or in connection with your use of Cadenza or the cadenzapp.com website.

8. Termination

You may stop using Cadenza at any time by uninstalling the application. The author may discontinue the project, remove the website, or change these terms at any time, with notice posted on cadenzapp.com.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, without regard to its conflict-of-laws provisions. Any dispute arising from these terms or your use of Cadenza shall be resolved in the courts located in Toronto, Ontario.

10. Contact
